I had transferable skills
I joined Driver Hire in 2014 as an Operations Recruitment Consultant after a 24-year career in the Army, which included managing a fleet of bomb disposal vehicles.
It was certainly quite a change of career but I found that I had lots of skills that I could transfer to this role, too.
The job requires a lot of energy and drive to grow the business, but it’s also about attention to detail, and I’m quite a meticulous person.

It’s like a family
I lead a team of three and it is like a little family.
I have had great support from colleagues. I’ve approached the managers of other branches and they have been more than happy to share their sales leads with me.

I’ve got long-term goals
I did a foundation course when I first joined, and there is consistent support to underpin what you have been taught.
Since taking over at Carlisle, we have really worked hard and delivered some great results, growing the number of clients and drivers.
My long-term goal is to hopefully be considered for a Regional Development Manager’s role. There is also always the option to acquire the franchise and run my own business.
