I joined as an apprentice
My job is very diverse and involves a bit of everything from putting new bookings on the system to running the payroll system, interviewing candidates, placing job adverts online and meeting new clients.
I’m currently one of two people working in one of Driver Hire’s owned network offices and I joined the business as an apprentice.
I’ve always been interested in cars and vehicles and was looking for an apprenticeship in the transport sector, so the role seemed perfect for me.

No two days are the same
It’s a job that I am really happy to be going to when I wake up in the morning and no two days are the same.
While we are part of a national group, and we always have that support to call on, we are given the independence to run the office ourselves.
It’s like having your own business.
There are opportunities to progress
You feel like there are opportunities to progress, too. I’d like to think that one day I can make Branch Manager and then Regional Development Manager.
There is access to training and you are supported in learning new skills to help you achieve your ambition.
It’s great to have that back-up without being micromanaged. You are trusted to do your best. That means a lot.
